Next Committee Meeting: TBA

The Committee met on January 16 to discuss the disaster in Haiti. The outcome of the meeting was to recommend :

1. that clubs that were interested, donate to the RI Donor Advised Fund or to Shelterbox
2. that the district would rely on North River to determine the needs in Leogane and Tellico Lake to determine the needs in Carrefour and to report back to the committee, and
3. that the committee would work to improve communication with the cubs of the district about ongoing activities with this situation by improving the district website and by using Gov. Carol's email network and the district newsletter.

The committee will meet later to assess the effects of the initiatives associated with the immediate response needs and to further discuss the short term and long term needs to assist in the Haiti disaster. It was also determined that a priority would be placed on getting the Rotary Club in Carrefour stabilized and meeting and to determine if the members that were to make up the new Leogane club would be able to be assembled to begin meeting. The committee would continue to following the district disaster plan guidelines of Rotarians helping Rotarians first so that those Rotarians can begin to help their communities."
